A comprehensive network of train and bus services covers the Thames Valley region, providing easy access to almost all destinations. The main train lines serving the Thames Valley are Chiltern Railways, First Great Western, Thames Trains, and Virgin Trains.

With the exception of Virgin Trains, where a limited number of smoking seats is available, the train lines operate a strict no smoking policy. All offer a variety of reduced rate tickets such as a one-day travel card.
