Black Park Country Park

Wedged between Slough and the M40 lies this beautiful large country park with something for everyone who likes to be outdoors. As well as unspoilt nature, including a nature reserve, Black Park offers extensive recreational areas and facilities. It is a great place for walking any time of the year, and ideal for a day out with friends and family when it's warm and sunny.

Black Park

Walking
Extensive woodlands allow for good walking - anything from 30 minutes to several hours. Special habitat trails, such as the Alder Carr, inform visitors about predominant species. Many of the paths are suitable for walking and cycling, regardless of the weather.

Adjacent to the east side of Black Park is Pinewood Studios, although unfortunately, visitors are not allowed in. Still, there are some special cinematic trails which take you through the areas where scenes of films such as The Crying Game, Dracula and Goldfinger where shot.

  Black Park

Recreation
Black Park offers extensive recreational facilities: within a few yards of the lake are picnic tables, a children's adventure trail and a huge playing field where you can sunbathe, play frisbee etc.

Right next to the lake is the visitors' centre which has a cafeteria.

Activities

There are several orienteering courses, and a public bridle path leads around much of the park. Canoeing, boating and model boats are allowed but arrangements must be made prior with the park (restrictions apply in the nature reserve). The lake is open to divers by special arrangement. For more information, please contact the park (see below).

Recommended Footwear
The main paths can generally be walked in whatever you feel comfortable in. If you intend to venture off the beaten track, we suggest to wear waterproof footwear. Much of the area is marshland, and can get very wet and muddy - especially after heavy or continued rainfall.
